Lightning speed!

I can't even keep up with this baby's doings anymore -- but here's a shot at it ...

18-month appointment!
This is one growing baby -- she clocked in at 24 pounds, 10 ounces, and 31.5 inches tall, a full two inches up from her last checkup. Doctor says she's doing great, and was impressed by her verbal skills -- and her memory skills, too, I guess, because she knew she was getting shots pretty much as soon as we went into the exam room. Poor kid!

More concepts
--She gets "hot" and "cold" now; anything from the microwave gets blown on and she says "hot" (emphasizing the "t"), and knows better than to try to touch coffee mugs and such.
--She's using "that" when she points to something she doesn't know.
--Noises have meaning: she hears dogs bark or planes fly over, and knows what that means & says whatever the word is.
--Imitating noises: Most hilarious ones lately are the teapot ("eeeeeeeeeee!") and the spray-on sunscreen (when she manages to get ahold of one, she holds it out in front and goes "ssssssssss!").
--Coloring inside the lines: She doesn't do it every time, but if directed, she'll color inside something we've drawn (w/chalk, crayon or MagnaDoodle).

Numbers
She's understood the concept of "one more book" or "we'll read two books" or whatever for a while now, but just today, she seems to be able to identify numbers by sight! She brought me this little board book that counts one to five, with the corresponding number of baby animals on each page. She opened it to the back, and said "iigh." Turned the page, "mohr." Next pages: "fee." "oo." "mun." Unbelievable!
